📝 Bitfinex ETH longs steepest in 6 years Bitfinex is an OG exchange operating since 2012, and is known as an exchange where ancient OGs reside. So in the crypto world there's belief that margin positions here represent movements of old whale capital. Currently Bitfinex ETH longs have increased to approximately 389,000 ETH. 371% increase from late August bottom, and weekly RSI has climbed to 94.6 from such rapid accumulation. The last time similar extreme concentration appeared was just before 2020 DeFi Summer. Current scale isn't an all-time high from that time, but the speed at which positions accumulated in a short period evokes that era. While the entire market ignores ETH, Bitfinex whales are quietly and rapidly stacking long positions in ETH.

Went to sleep feeling good after seeing historic bullish news on Hyperliquid, woke up to historic hack incident from Binance.. Fortunately Tether and Circle froze some funds. Hope it gets resolved well. For an exchange of Binance's scale the hit will be big, but seems like it can be handled sufficiently. But generally when this kind of black swan event happens it creates a mid-to-short term bottom, unexpectedly the market is holding up well. I plan to HODL all my spot crypto positions.

📝 Wall Street Has Finally Started Adopting Hyperliquid In May, ICE and CME raised concerns to CFTC and U.S. congressional officials that Hyperliquid's anonymous trading structure could be used for crude oil price manipulation and sanctions evasion, calling for regulation. But just two weeks later, ICE met with the Hyperliquid team multiple times and asked regulators, "If such markets already exist, why can't we?" ICE also reportedly said it wants to pursue this more aggressively if it's legal. And today, ICE is directly investing in Trade.xyz while pursuing a U.S. regulated perpetual futures market using Hyperliquid's infrastructure. Once a U.S. regulated market opens, traditional investors and institutions trading stocks, indices, commodities, and currencies become potential customers. Hyperliquid is expanding from a DEX for crypto traders to global financial infrastructure used by Wall Street itself. Traditional finance first ignored crypto, then attacked it. But now it's beginning to participate in this flow. #HYPE

📝 Recent performance comparison of major DeFi protocols Charts closer to upper right mean bigger business and stronger token value accrual (buyback/burn/dividend). * Recent performance of upper-right projects (90-day annualized): - HYPE(#10): Fees $993M / Accrual $983M (99%) - UNI(#22): Fees $1.59B / Accrual $265M (16.7%) - AERO(#69): Fees $146M / Accrual $146M (100%) - SKY(#51): Fees $336M / Accrual $112M (33%) - LIT(#74): Fees $61M / Accrual $61M (100%) - RAY(#92): Fees $277M / Accrual $33.2M (12%) - JUP(#65): Fees $204M / Accrual $25.5M (12.5%) - AAVE (#49): Fees $427M / Accrual $30M (7.0%, discontinued) What stands out most is AERO. With AERO <> VELO token merge and migration underway, current circulating supply is about 58% of total supply. It's undervalued relative to performance, but note that more supply is coming to market. Ultimately, the important metric this cycle is actual project revenue and value flowing to tokens.

📝 DeFi Will Win - 5 years ago, DEX spot trading volume was only ~2% of CEX - Currently, DEX/CEX trading volume ratio is ~23% - DEX relative market share growth of 11x over 5 years The important point is that this growth occurred before traditional finance's large distribution networks fully opened. One of DeFi's biggest bottlenecks in the past was user acquisition and distribution channels. Even with good products, most investors gave up at the wallet and bridge stage, staying with familiar exchanges and trading apps. This bottleneck is starting to break. Robinhood is connecting tokenized stocks and DeFi to customers in 120+ countries. ICE, which owns NYSE, is investing in TradeXYZ and promoting U.S. perpetual futures markets based on Hyperliquid. What's next? Nasdaq, CME, Cboe? Tokenized perpetuals, RWA, and stablecoins are just the beginning. Once assets and cash move on-chain, markets will follow to trade them, use them as collateral, borrow them, and hedge them. Outside the U.S., Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, and Japan are bringing tokenized assets and on-chain finance into the regulatory fold. The institutional adoption of DeFi will spread globally starting from the U.S. When DeFi wins, most users won't even know they're using DeFi.
