😍 Virtual asset deferral bill legislative notice Taking into account that the US CARF participation timing is 2029, there is a need to adjust the taxation implementation timing to align with the point when major overseas exchange information becomes available. ☑️ Deferral bill until US 2029 Thank you to the representative who worked hard for this—Fire Ant—and to all Telegram users participating in the deferral! My interview article criticizing digital asset taxation was published again. I talked for about an hour and a half, but due to the nature of interviews, not all of my points were included. Still, my core thoughts remain largely unchanged from before. Digital asset taxation is not simply a matter of 'fairness.' Unprepared taxation can cause market distortions, and through that process, regulatory authorities may end up imposing more regulations on domestic digital asset operators. Additionally, even if taxation is implemented, the systems and regulations for market infrastructure, including exchanges, must first be stabilized. In a situation where the institutional foundation for domestic exchanges to expand their operations has not been properly established, if taxation starts first, it will constrain industry growth and ultimately may reduce the tax revenue the government can collect. These days, whenever I have the opportunity to be interviewed or contribute articles about digital asset taxation, I try to voice my position without reservation. Ultimately, to change policy, public opinion must be formed. You can see my thoughts in more detail in the interview below. https://www.dt.co.kr/article/12083653?ref=naver By the way, the taxation deferral petition is running out of time. If there are those who haven't participated yet, please read my interview to understand what problems exist with digital asset taxation, and if you agree with my thoughts, I would appreciate it if you would join the petition as well. https://petitions.assembly.go.kr/proceed/onGoingAll/585E43843479526AE064B49691C6967B

President Lee Jae-myung, making Korea a virtual asset hub isn't that complicated. Don't try to do something new, just don't do two things. 1/ Don't implement virtual asset taxation ❌ The virtual asset taxation policy first introduced in 2020 and postponed for 5 years is nothing more than a byproduct of political hot potato passing, nothing more, nothing less. There won't be votes from voters who want this, nor will there be real tax revenue effects. If we tax and the coin market cools down, not only will it not become a virtual asset hub, but the Korean market won't even be looked at. There's no tax on stock investments, so where on earth can we find justification for coin taxation? 2/ Don't restrict exchange businesses like Upbit, Bithumb, etc. ❌ Due to government regulations, domestic exchanges seem to only focus on government relations work instead of doing actual "virtual asset business" they can do. Crypto's most powerful PMF is trading, and Korea possesses this PMF at a world-class level. The current view of coins as tainted with speculation and gambling has already proven through domestic stock leverage products that coins themselves aren't the problem. If companies like Upbit and Bithumb that led Korea to a globally spotlighted crypto market can more freely expand on-chain business and operate financial innovation services like prediction markets and deposit products, these exchanges can show innovation comparable to Coinbase and nurture more young entrepreneurs and startups. The economic value these companies create will be incomparable to tax revenue effects. The biggest reason overseas crypto foundations and projects consider Korea the most important market in Asia is still liquidity and trading. Crypto's current innovation stands at a crossroads where traditional finance is reviewing on-chain business and moving beyond speculation to create the future of finance. If we abolish virtual asset taxation and encourage exchanges to more actively expand on-chain business, our country's liquidity won't end with speculation. It will be an opportunity for more domestic startups to attract large-scale investments from foreign investment firms and expand their global influence. https://biz.newdaily.co.kr/site/data/html/2026/06/08/2026060800108.html There's more to say... You can hear this in this week's face episode.
