🟢 Abstract's final claim was that community comes first—what's left for users? For those unfamiliar with Abstract, I'll explain it simply. There's a company called Igloo with CEO Rucanets, and under that is Fudge Penguin and Abstract. Think of it that way. Abstract wasn't just about labor airdrop farming—the more money you spent, the more XP (airdrop points) you could earn, and rankings were divided by total amount. Of course climbing higher meant spending more. And earning XP wasn't consistent. Those who did Abstract last year said they spent enormous amounts of money. I too spent quite a bit trying to catch up quickly this year, and did lots of activity to stand out in the community. Most people probably have similar reasons for doing Abstract, but watching Rucanets successfully lead Fudge Penguin made me think—wouldn't Abstract also be able to grow that much? He himself showed signs that encouraged such expectations. But what attracted me wasn't just that hope. I experienced the goal of 'making Web3 feel like Web2', and that direction aligned with the Web3 I'd been wanting to see, so I think I worked even harder because of it. But then at some point Abstract went quiet. Rucanets removed the Abstract badge from his X profile, and I asked community staff directly and heard this explanation: It was meant to be so Abstract wouldn't depend on a specific person like Rucanets, to become an autonomous ecosystem. Then they said to watch and believe, and I held onto a sliver of hope. I cared about this community that much. But just days later, today. Abstract is ending the service. The reason: DeFi ecosystem and liquidity shortage, weak institutional connections, too-high operating costs. They built Portal and AGW, attracted global brands, recorded over 300 million transactions, but couldn't find a business model that generated continuous demand, the explanation went. I understand the business difficulties. There's reasoning behind not launching a token without conviction either. 폭풍 같은 하루가 지나가고 있네요.
앱스단의 결속력을 응원해주시고, 지금 상황에 공감하며 여러곳에 알려주신 분들께 감사드립니다.
오늘 정말 많은 감정을 쏟아냈어요. 소식을 들었던 새벽에는 화가 났고, 자고 일어나서는 꿈같기도 했어요. 몇번을 울었는지도 모르겠네요.
적지 않은 시간과 돈, 노력을 기울인 만큼 개인적으로 많이 힘들었습니다. 우리 앱스 가족들도 같은 마음일테고요 🥹
이 프로젝트가 모 아니면 도가 될수도 있겠다고는 생각했지만,
TGE 자체가 없는 무(無)가 될 줄은 정말 몰랐어요.
몇달 전만 해도 커뮤니티 관리자가 제2장, 제3장을 이야기했는데, 그 말에 책임지지않고 끝내버렸다는 점에도 화가 나요.
일부 해외친구들은 함께 고소를 준비하겠다고 하는데.. 살면서 고소같은건 생각도 못해봤는데 그정도로 큰일을 겪은게 새삼 실감이 나더라구요.
솔직히 앱스트랙트로 큰돈을 벌었으면 좋았겠죠.
하지만 이 시장에 있으면서 제 마음대로 모든 일이 다 풀리지 않을거라는건 알고 있구
다른 세계선에서 앱스트랙트가 내년이든 내후년이든 상장을 했었어도 만족할만한 성과는 나오지 않았을거라는것도 알아요.
여전히 아쉽고 화가 나지만, 이 마음에만 머물러 있고 싶지는 않습니다.
앱스를 통해 잃은것보다 얻은게 더 많으니까요.
함께 활동하며 진짜 가족이 되어버린 앱스 식구들이 우선 제일 감사해요.
또한 국내외에서 알게 된 친구들과 교류하고 서로 챙겨주던 순간들도 소중했어요. 앱스가 아니었다면 만나지 못했을 사람들이니까요.
결과가 아쉽지만 그렇다고 함께했던 시간과 마음까지 의미 없어지는 건 아니라고 생각해요. 이렇게 정이 들줄은 몰랐는데, 오래 보고싶은 분들이 많이 생겼습니다. 이 인연은 앞으로도 이어갔으면 좋겠어요 🙏
저에게 앱스는 이렇게 사람들과 교류하고 활동하게 된 첫단추였지만, 앱스가 끝났다고 여기서 제 여정까지 끝내고 싶지는 않아요. 이 경험을 가지고 제가 할수있는 일을 하며 더 나아가 보려고요.
저는 돈이 많지도, 남들보다 안목이 뛰어나다고 말할 수도 없어요.
다만 하나는 자신 있어요. 좋아하는 게 생기면 진심을 다하는 거요. 그게 프로젝트든 사람이든요.
직접 해보고 알아보며 좋은 것을 알리고, 함께하는 사람들에게 마음을 쓰는것. 앱스를 하면서 저도 제가 얼마나 열심히 수 있는 사람인지 알게 됐어요.
이제 그 마음을 쏟을 새로운 프로젝트도 천천히 찾아보려 해요.
아직 무엇일지는 모르지만, 직접 경험하면서 알아가고 싶어요.
