📕 Cronos EVM v1.8, mainnet upgrade on October 22 ✅ Cronos is scheduled to implement a v1.8 mainnet upgrade on October 22. 📂 Key content 🟢 The Block-STM parallel execution engine is directly integrated into the Cosmos SDK layer to process non-conflicting transactions simultaneously. 🟢 Optional app-side mempool reduces redundant work in pre-validation and block creation, and asynchronous re-validation lowers the burden on consensus pathways. 🟢 Ethereum API compatibility is expanded to 80+ methods, 90%+ coverage, and includes the Osaka hard fork and 40+ stability and security fixes. ✍ This looks like a significant upgrade following the hacking incident. [CRO Community Proposes Full Product Revenue for CRO Buyback·Burn] The Cronos (CRO) Layer 1 blockchain community has unveiled a governance proposal to use all revenue from Cronos Labs products for full CRO buyback and burn. Per the proposal, all revenue from Ult and Cronos Launch is used monthly to purchase CRO on the market and then burn it, with on-chain transaction hashes also disclosed for each trade. Operating, infrastructure, and growth costs are covered by existing capital, and strategic reserves are planned for future Cronos POS staking rewards. The matter is currently at the proposal stage.
