Arc StableFX opens. Arc's institutional on-chain FX trading engine StableFX has opened. On StableFX, institutions settle PvP-style not only USDC, EURC but also AUDF, BRLA, GBPA and KRW among registered FX. However only institutions post-KYB/AML like banks, fintechs, remittance/payment companies can trade, and after RFQ quotes via API or Console, liquidity providers submit bids in auction format, and once selected, both parties deposit corresponding currency in escrow smart contract for trading. Subsequent trades settle on-chain at Arc. Questions remain about where liquidity providers come from, whether sufficient liquidity supply is possible, whether transactions have large amounts but small collections benefiting chain meaningfully (issuer probably sees meaning just from volume), and how retail should receive it, etc., various uncertainties remain, but feels somewhat like Canton vibes. Arc, save Hibachi. Official notice | StableFX

📝 Direction ultimately matters. Arc and Hibachi. 1. What comes after the payment boom? - After stablecoin craze payment competition is ongoing - Multiple projects are in bleeding-edge competition while growing the pie - Thanks to that, regardless of coin market status, payment volume continues rising - Naturally cross-border payment dominates a large portion, so next frontier likely FX. 2. Arc's direction - Much-anticipated Circle's Arc finally launches on the 16th - But the team's awkward meme coin shilling drew criticism and results underwhelmed - Arc's importance is matching direction going forward - Arc targets Circle's USDC-specialized payment and FX infrastructure, launching as L1. 3. Can Hibachi become Arc ecosystem's Aavantis? - Hibachi is an Arc FX player receiving Circle investment - Currently the only recipient of Arc Builder Fund support - Recently via team the FX product in preparation for Circle-level partnership - Early year founder mentioned 10M+ additional round preparation - Point season ending within two months, TGE possible before FX spot. ✍️ Arc is fundamentally different path from Robinhood, so projects matching its purpose likely benefit over copying Robinhood success. Per AMA held today, point season ends within two months and TGE could even proceed before FX spot. And TGE main condition ultimately is exchange listing, and seeing Upbit's recent moves regarding Circle, native expectations might also be worth holding. After Circle MOU in April, EURC, JPYC listed, Arc launched mainnet and immediately opened deposits. Isn't betting on Avantis positioning on Base worth it? 👉 Hibachi invitation

📝 Exchange turning stablecoins into junk coins too. 1️⃣ 1 yen becomes 35.7 won. JPYC, the yen stablecoin listed on Upbit today, surged to 35.7 won. Global price at the time was 9.65 won. A 1-yen asset traded at over 3x the price on the country's #1 exchange. The fact that a stablecoin price surged 197% isn't good news. 2️⃣ This accident wasn't hard to predict. Upbit initially listed JPYC supporting only Ethereum network deposits/withdrawals. The problem was JPYC circulation on Ethereum was only ~6.4% of total. Meanwhile ~88.5% existed on Kaia and Polygon. It's like closing the two biggest supply pipes and connecting only the smallest one before starting trading. 3️⃣ Price explodes, then belatedly opens pipes. JPYC trading started and within 40 minutes price pumped 3x, then Upbit announced it would add Kaia and Polygon networks. When liquidity eventually enters, price reverts to fundamental value. Users who bought at high prices absorb the losses in that process. Increasing supply after accident is damage control, not investor protection. 4️⃣ And this isn't even first time. Days before EURC hit 3,300 won on Upbit, same day PYUSD jumped 1,380 won to 1,760 won. (Further back there's DAI lol). If stablecoin supply is insufficient, methods exist: open major network deposits first, wait for enough volume entering before starting trading, or limit initial price volatility. Disclaimers saying "investment decisions and losses are user responsibility" don't erase exchange market-design responsibility. Good exchanges don't just open trading. They understand what mistakes users might make and design markets so those mistakes don't become accidents. Upbit is the country's #1 exchange by volume. They can see the most order data and deposit/withdrawal status domestically, and know best what happens right after new listings. An exchange like that having 1-yen stablecoins trade at 35 won, then adding liquidity pipes after price explodes, is frankly shameful. With Mirae Asset and Korea Investment & Securities knocking on the door now, if this carelessness repeats, Upbit will lay its own ladder for competitors to climb.
