9-member girl group 'A2O LITE' debuted today Lee Soo-man, head of SM, transferred stake to HYBE and faced 3-year non-compete restrictions, moving to US and China Launched Chinese member A2O MAY, but criticized for following Chinese dream anyway But after 3-year non-compete restrictions lifted in early this year, immediately debuted hidden 9-member girl group A2O LITE and 15-member boy group A2O SOUL simultaneously Completely excluded existing A2O MAY, with Lee Soo-man producing, Yoo Young-jin composing, and even cousin Sunny joining to refine the project Composed with exactly 9 members like Girls' Generation debut, creating original SM style rather than existing K-POP color with dancing and singing Feels like compressed color of early SM girl groups Changing from songs not exceeding 3 minutes to 3:30 and 4-minute tracks, shifting from image-focused growth-type idols to complete-form idols, recreating SM's signature sacred parts Most reviews say it's purifying an idol industry tired of music and dancing made for TikTok and Shorts
