Anyway before the sale let's get a quick understanding of what the project is about? Shaw's new project 'Slop Cash,' which is doing its first sale on Yumia, is what you'd call a Shaw-style project—it's about rewarding GitHub contributors. Getting more into it, it's a project about giving rewards for actual contributions to open source. [Project description section] 1. 'Actual contribution' means for example if you filed a bug report, that alone isn't counted as a contribution—it has to be reviewed and actually reflected in the code to be counted as actual contribution. The reason for this approach might be because not only has quantitative evaluation lost meaning, but even simple qualitative evaluation is starting to lose significance too. 2. Recently AI coding became insanely easy, and Shaw happened to be active at that very forefront from early on (developer of ElizaOS, and all his friends around him work on related stuff) so I wonder if the grappling with how to evaluate actual contributions is baked into this Slop Cash... 3. It makes sense honestly. Not forcing anyone to hand-code, anyway if it has practicality and gets reflected then OK—it has that kind of intuitive directness too. 4. How Slop Cash works... projects announce monthly reward pools in advance, contributors submit work, and later Slop Cash evaluates and distributes the reward pool according to scores. [Revenue model and tokenomics] 5. Not "here's what we'll do" but already a developed and running project—Slop Cash says contributions and rewards are already happening in ElizaOS that Shaw is running. (See images for details) Inside Slop Cash there are stats you can check on which AI models or harnesses are used, which could also be monetized later I think (link) 6. Slop Cash's revenue comes from fees from this platform that pays rewards to developer contributors. (Fee is 1%) 7. The important part is developers get paid rewards not directly in $SLOP tokens but in USDC, and fees are also collected in USDC. 8. So what's $SLOP token used for then? Basically governance for Slop Cash and the rest is undisclosed. Going by Shaw's past approach there might be something more added, by recent direction thinking
