Binance hack, the paradox of decentralization We have advocated for decentralization, but perhaps decentralization shines brightest as a subculture's value. As markets grow and become mainstream, efficiency comes from centralization, and successful platforms' keys ultimately lie in near-monopoly market dominance. This Binance hack starkly shows that contradiction. According to Binance's initial investigation, the attack's starting point was likely a DevOps engineer's laptop. Estimated damage scale approximately $6.3B (approximately 9 trillion won). Tether and Circle froze the hacker's stablecoins using their centralized issuer authority. Subsequently Ripple moved to freeze RLUSD, World Liberty Financial froze USD1. Even Arbitrum's security committee exercised emergency authority to forcibly transfer approximately 74.56M ARB and 8,425 ETH from the hacker wallet. Ethereum mainnet's ETH is a native asset without central administrator, so there's no authority to forcibly freeze specific wallets. In contrast, Arbitrum's security committee holds authority to upgrade smart contracts in emergencies. That is, Ethereum requires decentralized consensus, but Arbitrum allows a small security committee to exercise emergency authority. According to Binance's official announcement, these frozen assets amount to approximately $3B. Since this was an accident at the world's largest exchange, the industry's response was quite swift. But the hacker actively utilized even that short timeframe. Before freezing, exchanged approximately $325M USDT for ETH via UniswapX etc., and on Aave deposited $60M USDT as collateral to borrow approximately $44.6M worth of WETH. Pledged freezable assets as collateral, secured unfreezing assets. Subsequently Aave also initiated emergency market freezing to prevent further capital inflows and borrowing. The hacker sold stolen UNI, LINK, AAVE etc. on DEX for ETH. Tokens with smaller market cap and shallower liquidity struggle to absorb large selling volume. In fact, post-hack AAVE and LINK dropped approximately 9%, UNI dropped 8%, ARB dropped 6%. Of course, not all price declines can be attributed to the hacker's selling. What defended billions in assets in crisis moments was centralized issuers like Tether and Circle's control authority, and what stepped up to take responsibility was Binance's SAFU fund and corporate capital. For reference

Devcon is scheduled in Mumbai, India starting this week. The Solana Seraph team roaming random locations around the world is burning VC money. Important users are in Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and the US (by the way, Solana builders have Breakpoint scheduled in London, which is a must-attend event). Of course, my personal thought is that Devcon is worth going to if you want to do business closely with EF. It feels more like Ethereum OGs and builders gathering rather than pure business (though the two can't be perfectly separated). Personally, I think the golden era of Devcon was 2022 Devcon (held about a month after Ethereum's PoS transition, The Merge, so discussions about Shanghai upgrade, ETH staking withdrawals, etc. connected to investment and money and imagination). Last year Devconnect was held in Argentina, and the main themes were AI agents, x402, and stablecoin payments. This year's Devcon's core agenda is censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security. Ethereum is putting weight back on the fundamental values it has pursued. Even without going to India, it's good to follow up from the warmth of home and see what geniuses are drawing for the next steps. When I invested back in '21, I read all of Vitalik's Reddit posts... the narratives he spoke about turned to money a few months later. How do I put it—now EF is like a public company in crypto, while Solana is thoroughly like a private company... I'd love to see a big announcement come out during Devcon this week. And I wish everyone would step up to prevent hacking

✔️2026 Airdrops, What Remaining Expectations Are There? There were no major airdrops in August-September, and in October we had Axis and Ritual. Remaining airdrop expected schedule • Predict.fun: Expected November • Genlayer: Expected November • Extended: Expected November • Jumper: Expected December • Variational: Expected December ✍️Airdrops are slowly increasing again, but compared to the past, there's definitely still a lot to be desired. With two months left in 2026, I hope the remaining projects will have decent rewards.

[ Summary of what happened last night ] The vibe was good before bed but when I woke up the price was weird.. Listen to what I'm about to say without being shocked 1/ Last night Intel announced earnings and got hit with -22% stock price. 2/ Binance got hacked. Withdrawals are not going through either. 3/ Got hacked crazy hard. The previous record hack was Bybit's hack which was less than 1.5B, but Binance is estimated to have lost roughly 6B right now.... 4/ Fortunately, nearly 3B of the hacked assets have been frozen. 5/ But all sorts of alts keep dumping, and assets like BTC and ETH weren't frozen to begin with.... 6/ Changpeng Zhao confirmed it's a hack and tweeted that they can sufficiently cover the stolen funds 7/ The biggest question is what was there to do? Even if we'd been awake, there was barely any play available. Everyone who stayed up all night is just sitting around with numb fingers and swollen thumbs from refreshing 😱 And while writing this, ENA gets dumped too 😱

I made a dashboard where you can compare how many tokens each VC invested in are listed on Upbit, Bithumb, Binance, and Coinbase. Upbit listing ratio (portfolios with 20+ projects) 1. Lightspeed Faction 64% (18/28) 2. Standard Crypto 57% (13/23) 3. Variant 57% (13/23) 4. Paradigm 53% (20/38) It's surprising that $ZEC $HYPE $BNB still aren't on Upbit 👻 KDP site
