(주)청년열정민트초코Yesterday[L1과 L2가 갈라서기 시작했다: 네이티브 계정 추상화 협상 결렬] 오늘 네이티브 계정 추상화 표준을 둘러싼 EIP-8141과 EIP-8130의 협상이 결렬되었습니다. 이더리움 L1과 L2가 처음으로 본격적으로 갈라서는 순간이라고 볼 수 있지 않을까 싶네요. 네이티브 계정 추상화는 이더리움의 다다음 업그레이드인 헤고타(Hegota)를 대표하는 제안 중 하나입니다. 이전에 소개했듯, 이더리움 리서처와 코어 개발자들이 제안한 EIP-8141과 베이스가 제안한 EIP-8130이 경쟁해 왔었죠. 매주 브레이크아웃 회의를 열어 두 표준의 간극을 좁히려 했지만, 애초에 지향하는 바가 달랐던 만큼 합의에 이르지는 못한 것으로 보입니다. 결과적으로 L1은 내년에 EIP-8141을 도입하고, 베이스/아비트럼/옵티미즘 등 주요 L2는 EIP-8130을 채택하는 방향으로 정리될 전망입니다. 왜 상징적인가 지금까지 메이저 L2가 EVM을 크게 수정한 적은 없었습니다. 비즈니스 니즈에 맞춰 EVM을 손본 alt-L1은 많았지만, 베이스나 아비트럼처럼 '범-이더리움 생태계'로 평가받는 L2들은 EVM 호환성을 온전히 지켜왔습니다. 그러나 올해 초 비탈릭이 "L2 로드맵은 실패했다"고 선언한 이후, L2의 정체성이 'L1 스케일링'에서 '특화된 기능 제공'으로 옮겨가는 흐름이 보이고 있죠. 베이스의 EIP-8130 제안이 그 흐름 하에 있지 않을까 싶습니다. 물론 이전에도 EVM을 소폭 수정한 L2는 있었습니다. 그러나, 이번이 다른 이유는 두 가지입니다. 1. 가장 큰 유저 베이스를 가진 베이스/아비트럼/옵티미즘이 EIP-8130을 도입하려 하고 있다는 점. 2. 네이티브 계정 추상화가 프로토콜에서 차지하는 면적이 매우 넓다는 점입니다. 두 가지가 겹치면서, 이번 네이티브 계정 추상화는 L1과 L2가 크게 갈라서는 첫 지점이 될 가능성이 높습니다. 빌더와 유저가 생각해볼 지점 • 툴링, 인프라, 디앱의 고충: L1에서는 EIP-8141, L2에서는 EIP-8130을 각각 지원해야 하므로 툴링과 인프라 단에서 이를 추상화하는 계층이 필요해집니다. 이걸 잘 풀어내는 팀에게는 큰 기회지만, 그 과정에서 빌더들이 감당해야 할 복잡도도 만만치 않을 것으로 예상됩니다. • EVM은 어디로 가는가: 이번 일을 기점으로 L1과 L2가 각자 다른 EVM 구현을 밀고 나가는 상황이 올 수 있습니다. 서로의 구현에서 장점을 흡수하는 시너지도 기대할 수 있겠지만, '단일 구현으로 멀티체인을 지원한다'는 EVM 본연의 강점은 흐려질 수 있습니다. 9월 29일, Ethereum Korea One에서 이 흐름을 그대로 담아 두 개의 패널토크를 진행합니다. • 네이티브 계정 추상화, 왜 갈라졌고 어디로 가는가: EIP-8141의 저자이신 Geth의 펠릭스, 그리고 수년간 스마트 계정을 빌딩해온 오프체인 소속 ZeroDev의 이규택님과 함께 두 표준이 갈라선 이유와 향후 전망을 짚어봅니다. • 달라진 이더리움 생태계 속 L2의 역할과 '정렬' 논쟁: 오프체인의 에드 펠튼, 옵티미즘의 제이콥, 스타크넷의 일리아를 모시고 L2가 이제 무엇이어야 하는지 이야기합니다. 많은 관심 부탁드립니다!98730
